  • This is the first episode with the “Mirror Universe”.  This was returned to several times in future episodes of various series including Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, & Discovery.
  • There was a direct sequel episode to this in the fan series “Star Trek Continues” entitled “Fairest of Them All“.
  • The final scene of this episode when Lt Marlena meets Kirk was used as the source material when Ben Sisko meets Kirk in the DS9 episode “Trials and Tribbleations“.
