Notes
- The original title of this episode was “Prophet in the Wind”.
- The DS9 Companion book says this episode is based off of the musical Brigadoon.
- The first appearance of Jeffrey Combs on Star Trek in the first of his 8,000 characters. This one was Tiron. He would later play the much larger roles of Weyoun & Brunt on Deep Space Nine (and something in every incarnation of Trek after this). Combs was one of the actors who auditioned for Riker on TNG.
- The settlement on Meridian is just a re-use of a shot for the TNG episode “Birthright, Part II“.
- The first time Dax verbalizes that her spots go “all the way” down her body.
- The first episode where we see the transporter room for the Defiant.
- The backstory of Odo’s “feelings” for Kira are expanded on here.
- The second of three DS9 episodes directed by Jonathan Frakes. The remaining one is “Past Tense Part II“.
