Homefront

This Story: Season 4 Episode 11 (production code 483)
DS9 Overall: Episode 83
Trek Overall: Story 344a, Episode 364
Airdate: 1 Jan 1996
Writer: Ira Steven Behr & Robert Hewitt Wolfe
Director: David Livingston

Notes

  • This story and the next one was originally supposed to be the Season 3 cliffhanger going into Season 4, but Paramount said they didn’t want a cliffhanger.
  • Sisko’s father Joseph finally appears, played by Brock Peters, the first time he had appeared in a Star Trek episode – he was Admiral Peters in movies IV & VI.
  • Benteen is played by Susan Gibney.  She previously played Dr. Leah Brahms in the TNG episodes “Booby Trap” & “Galaxy’s Child”.
  • Speaking of movie VI, Rene Auberjonois, Michael Dorn, & Brock Peters all appeared in that movie in other roles.
  • The scene with O’Brian & Bashir coming out of a holodeck is a reference to the Monty Python sketch “The Banter Sketch”.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 83 - Homefront - 1 Jan 1996 2/2 Shit hits the fan - martial law, blood scans, troops in streets. The story is about a loss of privacy in the name of "security" - a story that relates quite WELL today, sadly. Stories on Earth always have an odd feel.
