Notes
- The fifth of a ten episode arc that closes out the Dominion War and Deep Space Nine as a series. As far as I know it’s not intended to be a single story with ten parts to it, but it is very tightly wound together (ala Babylon 5), so watching these out of order would be near impossible. On original broadcast, they were advertised as “The Final Chapter“.
- The first appearance of Gowron in about two seasons.
- Subcommander Velal appears for the first time. He was mentioned in “Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges“, and is the in universe replacement for Cretak as the Romulan stationed on Deep Space Nine.
- This is the last episode of the series to have music composed by Paul Baillargeon.
- Vaughn Armstrong appears in this episode as Seskal. It is his fourth appearance in the overall franchise at this point (in real world time), and his fourth of thirteen different characters he’d play all told. There are pictures of all 13 of them here.
- Velal says that Martok’s ships would be outnumbered 20 to 1, which would mean the combined Dominion fleet would be over 30,000 ships.
- Kira is given a Federation commission for the purposes of this mission, and as such wears a Federation uniform – the first time she’s done that in 171 episodes of Deep Space Nine.

Kira is sent to Cardassia to train rebel troops there. Great angle for Kira, loved her angle here. Gowron reappears and takes over the Klingon fleet

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 171 - When It Rains... - 3 May 1999 2/2 excluding Martok wanting all the "glory". There's also a plot about Bashir trying to figure out how to save Odo, who has become sick (hello Section 31). Enjoyed Kira & the Cardassians. Again - killer episode.
