The Archbishop

This Episode: Season 1, Episode 3
Black Adder Overall: Episode 3
Airdate: 29 Jun 1983
Written by Rowan Atkinson & Richard Curtis
Directed by Martin Shardlow

Notes

  • The castle scenes were filmed at the real life location “Alnwick Castle“.  The same castle appeared in Downton Abbey as Brancaster Castle.
  • The Duke of Winchester was played by William Russell of Doctor Who fame – credited here as Russell Enoch (Enoch is his real surname).

The Black Adder Ep 3 - "The Archbishop" - 22 Jun 1983 1/2 #BlackAdder This ep sets up another "Blackadder tries to get power" plot, which is a common theme in S1. It's set up by the Duke of Winchester on his deathbed. He's played by OG Doctor Who companion William Russell (here Russell Enoch).

The Black Adder Ep 3 - "The Archbishop" - 22 Jun 1983 2/2 #BlackAdder Other than amusing joke about Black Adder's codpiece, this ep didn't do much of anything for me. A bummer because Brian Blessed is in more of this one, and I love him. I did think the costumes were good in this one, however.
