Sense and Senility

This Episode: Season 3, Episode 4
Black Adder Overall: Episode 16
Airdate: 8 Oct 1987
Written by Ben Elton & Richard Curtis
Directed by Mandie Fletcher

“Ahh! Hot potato, orchestra stalls, pluck will make amends! Ow!”

Notes

  • Pitt the Younger (from the first episode of the series) is mentioned again here, but not seen.
  • The writer Ben Elton appears in the episode as an anarchist at the start of the episode that throws a bomb at the Prince.
  • Baldrick shows a rare moment of standing up to Black Adder by saying “Goodbye, you lazy, big nosed, rubber faced bastard”.
  • The routine that had to be performed whenever Black Adder said “Macbeth” was apparently something made up by the two actors in question – Hugh Paddick (Keanrick) and Kenneth Connor (Mosop).

Black Adder Ep 16 - "Sense and Senility" - 8 Oct 1987 2/2 decides to leave ("Mr. Thicky-Black-Thicky-Adder-Thicky!") He really doesn't, but it's funny watching Baldrick & the Prince fail to do anything while he's "gone". The way the two plots come together in the end is hilarious. #MacBeth
