Notes
- Running fired torpedo count: 18 / Confirmed crew deaths since pilot: 12 (crew of 142).
- This episode is a sequel to “Death Wish“.
- The third “Q” episode directed by Cliff Bole – the others were “Hide and Q” and “QPid“.
- The female Q is played by Suzie Plakson, who is probably most famous to Trek fans as K’ehlyr (the mother of Worf’s son) from a couple of TNG episodes as well as Dr. Selar also from TNG. She was also an Andorian in Star Trek: Enterprise.
- The title of this episode is apparently a reference to a Civil War era poem called “The Blue and the Gray“.
- The exterior scenes were filmed in Griffith Park – which is right next to the famed Griffith Observatory, which was recently seen in “Future’s End“.
- Thus episode states that Q’s do not reproduce, but this seems to be in conflict with the TNG episode “True Q” in which a seemingly human woman is revealed to have her parents both be Q.
- Q (our Q) refers to Neelix as “bar rodent”, a name I thought would be more relevant for Quark.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 53 - The Q & the Grey - 27 Nov 1996 2/2 out into this ep. The war manifests itself as a Civil War scenario. I loved the idea of Q's fighting with each other, but I never liked the way it was portrayed. Janeway's reaction to Q & female Q mating is hilarious af.
