QPid

This Story: Season 4 Episode 20 (production code 194)
TNG Overall: Episode 94
Trek Overall: Story 193, Episode 196
Airdate: 22 Apr 1991
Teleplay by Ira Steven Behr
Story by Ira Steven Behr & Randee Russell
Directed by Cliff Bole

Notes

  • Features the return of John DeLancie’s Q as well as Jennifer Hetrick’s Vash.  It is Vash’s last appearance on the show, but not in the franchise.
  • Worf’s smashing of Geordi’s mandolin is intended as reference to John Belushi in the movie Animal House.
  • The shot where Vash trips over her dress was a blooper, but it was left it because it was felt the discomfort with her dress fit the character.
  • The actor who played Sir Guy of Gisbourne in this episode (Clive Revill) was also the voice of Emperor Palpatine in The Empire Strikes back – but later revisions removed him in favor of Ian McDiarmid.
  • A background actor in this episode (John Nowak) plays an unnamed character here.  He was in Star Trek previously in 1967’s “The Doomsday Machine“.
  • The line Q makes about Vash being “good. really good” is repeated by Quark in the DS9 episode “Q-Less“.
  • Amusingly Marina Sirtis & Gates McFadden were the only two in the cast actually trained in sword fighting, yet the two of them only bashed people over the head with vases.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 94 - QPid - 22 Apr 1991 1/2 Q returns with Vash and it's a great episode. Lots of fun, but the best is the sequence in Sherwood Forest ("Worf's "I AM NOT A MERRY MAN!" was gold!). The entire bit is about Q wanting to pay back Picard for events of the last Q ep.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 94 - QPid - 22 Apr 1991 2/2 The parts that aren't Sherwood forest are themselves not that big in terms of story. The entire second half is the Sherwood stuff. Finding it hard to write about this one, because it's basically "Q makes Picard & crew do Robin Hood".
