The Nth Degree

This Story: Season 4 Episode 19 (production code 193)
TNG Overall: Episode 93
Trek Overall: Story 192, Episode 195
Airdate: 1 Apr 1991
Written by Joe Menosky
Directed by Robert Legato

Notes

  • Features the return of Dwight Schultz as Reginald Barklay.
  • Has a very long pre-title sequence, over 7 minutes.
  • The Argus array visually looks like the station from Star Trek: The Motion Picture that got destroyed by V’Ger.
  • Parts of Barclay operating inside the computer reminded me of bits of “Spock’s Brain“.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 93 - The Nth Degree - 1 Apr 1991 1/2 Lt. Barclay returns. On an away mission, Barclay is injured and in his recovery he develops a "super genius" level intelligence capable of things not normally possible. It's a rather simple plot, and I rather liked watching

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 93 - The Nth Degree - 1 Apr 1991 2/2 the journey here. "Barclay as the computer" is an odd thing, kind of a semi-villain level entity. But not one that wants to kill anyone. Was an odd ending. Riker's reaction to Troi saying Barclay made a pass at her was funny.
