Scorpion

This Story: Season 3 Episode 26 (production code 168)
VOY Overall: Episode 68
Trek Overall: Story 497a, Episode 524
Airdate: 21 May 1997
Written by Brannon Braga & Joe Menosky
Directed by David Livingston

Notes

  • The last episode of Season 3.
  • Running fired torpedo count: 19 / Confirmed crew deaths since pilot: 13 (crew of 141).
  • The title of this episode is “Scorpion”, not “Scorpion, Part I”. Only Part II has the extra part in the title.
  • The first episode for “Species 8472”.
  • The last episode where Jennifer Lien is credited in the opening credits (as part of the main cast).
  • Leonardo DaVinci is played by John Ryhs Davies – an actor I know from any number of places, but very popular in the Raiders of the Lost Ark films (asaps – very dangerous – you go first!)
  • There is a pile of dead Borg on one of the cubes that is seen. It was a pile of Playmates Toys action figures.
  • Events in the episodes “Q Who” & “Emissary” are referenced here.
  • The assimilation tubes used  by Borg drones was a re-use of sfx from Star Trek: First Contact.
  • The “To Be Continued” graphic was laid on top of events in the episode here, vs the usual totally black screen they have been in Star Trek past (at least in the TNG/DS9/VOY era anyway).

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 68 - Scorpion - 21 May 1997 2/3 lengthy scene exploring a mostly dead Borg cube which had shades of Best of Both Worlds. We also see evidence of Species 8472 who can overpower the Borg. They also infect Harry, who is down for about half the episode. The one

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 68 - Scorpion - 21 May 1997 3/3 thing I never cared for is an "alliance" with the Borg. They're like the Daleks in that regard; they believe they don't need any help. Janeway should have been killed IMO. Overall an excellent ep. No Seven yet - that's Part II.

My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
