Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 23 / Confirmed crew deaths since pilot: 14 (crew of 140).
  • While this episode is strongly tied to the next one (“Prey“), the two are not considered a two parter.  Likewise there are strong ties to the prior episode as well, but they’re not considered officially connected in that way.
  • Working title for this episode was “Communications”.
  • Events from this episode relative to the Maquis are followed up on in the episode “Extreme Risk“.
  • Likewise, info from the data stream is followed up on in the episode “Hope and Fear“.
  • Janeway’s (now former) fiancé’s surname is said to be Johnson.
  • Admiral Paris’ first name is said to be Owen.
  • The names of Tuvok’s eldest son is aid to be Sek and his mother is T’meni.
  • Tiny Ron plays Idrin the Hirogen here.  He was also Grand Nagus Zek’s assistant Maihar’du in seven Deep Space Nine episodes. Ron also played the same Hirogen in the prior episode “Message in a Bottle“.
  • Seven refers to a “Species 5174”, but doesn’t say who they are.
  • We get to see a female Bolian for what I believe is the first time.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 83 - Hunters - 11 Feb 1998 2/2 kidnap Tuvok & Seven. In the rescue of them it destroys the network's ability to get messages, so the ship moves on. Good mix of action and emotion in this one. The Hirogen are the kind of alien race the Kazon should have been.
