Notes
- Running fired torpedo count: 60. This contradicts the hard limit set in “The Cloud” of 38.
- The second of two episodes written by “Mr. Klingon” Ronald D. Moore. The other was the prior one – “Survival Instinct“. It was also his final Star Trek episode, which comprised a total of 62 episodes over TNG, DS9, & VOY – plus the Generations & First Contact movies. Went out with a banger, a heavy Klingon themed ep.
- Neelix, Tuvok, Seven, & Harry only appear here as illusions.
- The Klingon drinking song with the Doctor and Seven was originally sung by Worf and Huraga in DS9’s “The Way of the Warrior“.
- Karen Austin played B’Elanna’s mother here, but in real life she was just four years older. Austin also appeared on DS9’s “Nor the Battle to the Strong” as Doctor Kalandra.
- Eric Pierpoint played the Klingon Kortar here. He was also Voval in TNG’s “Liaisons”, Sanders on DS9’s “For the Uniform“, Shiraht in Enterprise’s “Rogue Planet“, and Section 31 operative Harris in four Enterprise episodes.
- John Shull was the Klingon Brok’tan here. He was an unnamed Klingon in TNG’s “Firstborn“, a Bajoran Security Deputy in DS9’s “Shakaar“, another Klingon K’Temang in DS9’s “Return to Grace“, a Hanonian in “Basics, Part II“, & Nocona in “Homestead“.
- The Barge itself here wasn’t fully seen in the episode until many years later when Star Trek Lower Decks’ used the design for a sailing ship in the episode “The New Next Generation“.

Ron Moore's last ep for Trek is a banger - he does what he does well, a Klingon ep.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 123 - Barge of the Dead - 6 Oct 1999 2/2 After talking about it a bunch, we get to see "Klingon hell" (Gre'thor) & B'Elanna's (temporary) journey there. Some good stuff on the journey (her mum). This is a great dive into previously unexplored Klingon lore.
