Shattered

This Story: Season 7 Episode 11 (production code 257)
VOY Overall: Episode 157
Trek Overall: Story 579, Episode 613
Airdate: 17 Jan 2001
Story by Mike Sussman & Michael Taylor
Teleplay by Michael Taylor
Directed by Terry Windell

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 71.  This contradicts the hard limit set in “The Cloud” of 38.
  • The first episode to air in the year 2001.
  • A working title for this episode was “Shatterday”.
  • Tuvok is shown to die in this episode, although it’s an alternate reality that gets wiped out, so he’s not really dead.
  • The various parts of the ship represent the events of these prior episodes: “Caretaker“, “Basics, Pt II“, “Macrocosm“, “Scorpion, Pt II“, Bliss“, & “Bride of Chaotica!“.  There is also a timeframe referenced in Sickbay that it’s between the episodes “Innocence” and “Tuvix“.  Finally, events from several other episodes were referenced, but not depicted: “Deadlock“, “Collective“, “Remember“, “Once Upon a Time“, “State of Flux“, “Dark Frontier“, “Unimatrix Zero“, “Year of Hell“, and “Ashes to Ashes“.
  • In the novel “A Pocket Full of Lies“, it’s postulated that what put Voyager in this predicament was by the Krenim (“Year of Hell“).
  • This episode was nominated for an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Costumes For A Series.”
  • Martin Rayner reprises his role as Chaotica (who previously appeared in “Night” and “Bride of Chaotica!“).  It his his final appearance in the series.
  • Nicholas Worth reprises his role as Lonzak (Chaotica’s assistant) who had previously appeared in “Bride of Chaotica!“.  It is his final appearance in Voyager.  He did appear as Sorm in DS9’s “A Simple Investigation” as well as a Liseppian Captain in DS9’s “Progress“.
  • Martha Hackett appears here as Seska for the first time since the penultimate episode of Season 3.  It is the final appearance of her thirteen overall in the series.
  • Mark Bennington & Vanessa Branch play adult versions of both Icheb & Naomi Wildman, but are from an alternate reality.  It is the only Star Trek appearance for both actors.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Episode 157 - Shattered - 17 Jan 2001 1/2 An ep I was looking forward to since I started Voyager. The ship is split into multiple time zones - only Chakotay can traverse them. The different parts of the ship are manifested as a "Greatest Hits" of Voyager. We see

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Episode 157 - Shattered - 17 Jan 2001 2/2 events from the pilot, Seska stranding the crew, the Borg when Seven first joined, the future, and some others. My fav is the Bride of Chaotica stuff. Super fun then, and just as much now. Enjoyed the hell out of this.
