Notes

• Running Decon Gel Scene Appearances: T’Pol (3), Trip (2), Hoshi (2), Malcolm (1), Archer (1), Porthos (1).  None this episode.
• Mathematically, the halfway point of the overall series. That is because Seasons 3 & 4 had a few less episodes than 1 & 2.
• According to production commentary on the Blu-Rays, this episode was intended as a sequel to the movie “Star Trek: First Contact“.
• The only appearance of the Borg in the series. There was, however to be a sequel to this episode in the Fifth season of the show, but obviously that didn’t get made.  It was to bring back Alice Krige and show her as a human before she was assimilated by the Borg to become the Borg Queen.
• Rooney was played by Bonita Friedericy.  She is the real life wife of John Billingsley (Phlox).  Once she was assimilated, the outfit she wore as a Borg was previously worn by Roxann Dawson in Voyager’s “Unimatrix Zero“.
• Borg costumes and props in this episode were re-used from numerous prior productions (mostly TNG & VOY).
• When the Tarkalean freighter was attacked, the effect was similar to the original one in “Q Who” from TNG – an audio commentary says this was an intentional reference.
• The only reference to the Delta Quadrant in all of Enterprise happens here.
• Some sets from this episode were re-used in “In A Mirror Darkly“.
• There is a reference to the Bynars, a race seen originally in TNG’s “11001001“.
• The Tarkaleans are seen in this episode for their only appearance in the overall Star Trek franchise, despite being referenced a lot in the past.
• An event Archer theorizes about here does indeed happen in TNG – “The Best of Both Worlds“.
• An unnamed male Tarkalean was played by Mark Chadwick.  He was also one of the clown guards in Voyager’s “The Thaw“, an unnamed Kolaran gunner in Star Trek: Nemesis, an unnamed Illyrian in “Damage“, and one of the Nazi soldiers in “Storm Front“.
• Foster is played by Paul Scott.  He was also Triannon in “Chosen Realm“, and an unnamed patron in a bar in “Home“.
