Notes (Part I)

• The first episode of Season 4 – and a traditional two part story.
• The episode is just called “Storm Front” vs “Storm Front Part I”.
• The first episode of a “Season 4” of a Star Trek series where there’s no cast changes and the original cast is still intact.
• The first episode with Manny Coto as show runner, taking over for Rick Berman & Brannon Braga.
• The first episode of the series to be filmed digitally vs on film stock.  Specifically using a Sony HDW-F900 digital video camera (source).
• One of only two episodes of Star Trek to take place entirely in the 20th century.  The other was the TOS episode “Assignment: Earth“.
• The Nazi HQ in the Voyager episode “The Killing Game” reappears here.
• Tom Wright plays Ghrath in this episode (and Part II).  He’s more known for playing the titular “Tuvix” on Voyager.
• The German General was played by Christopher Neame in this episode (and Part II).  He was also Unferth in the Voyager episode “Heroes and Demons“.
• A Nazi SS-Untersturmführer was plays by J. Paul Boehmer.  He was a Nazi SS-Standartenführer in the episode “Zero Hour“. He was a different Nazi (SS-Hauptsturmführer) in the Voyager two parter “The Killing Game“. He was also the Vulcan Mestral in “Carbon Creek“, the Cardassian Vornar in DS9’s “Tacking Into the Wind“, and finally the Borg Drone “One” in Voyager’s Drone“.

Notes (Part II)

• The episode is officially titled “Storm Front, Part II”.
• The final episode in the Temporal Cold War arc.
• The Xindi arc gets a shoutout in dialogue here.
• Real life Nazi propaganda footage was used in a clip in this episode.  The film is called “Triumph of the Will“.  The same footage was used in the TOS episode “Patterns of Force“.
• The final episode (of eight) for Matt Winston as Daniels.  Daniels the character however will pop up later in another series under another name.  I won’t spoil that here.  Will mention it when I get to that series/episode.
• The seventh and final appearance for John Fleck as Silik.  It’s also the only time he appears without makeup.
• Fleck was also Abaddon in Voyager’s “Alice“, the Romulan Taibak in TNG’s “The Mind’s Eye“, an unnamed Cardassian in DS9’s “The Homecoming”, Ornithar in DS9’s “The Search” (Part I), and a Romulan named Koval in DS9’s “Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges“.
