This Story: Season 3 Episode 2 (production code 302)
PIC Overall: Episode 22
Trek Overall: TBD
Airdate: 23 Feb 2023
Written by Christopher Monfette & Sean Tretta
Directed by Doug Aarniokoski

Notes

  • A shuttle has the name Savvik – a direct reference to the character played by Kirstie Alley & Robin Curtis.
  • This first appearance by Michael Dorn as Worf in the series.  Was his first appearance as the character since “Star Trek Nemesis” some 21 years prior.
  • A few DS9 characters are referenced here, but not seen.  Specifically Morn, Quark, & Brunt.
  • The character of Thadiun Okona (“The Outrageous Okona“) is also mentioned.  While he doesn’t appear, he does appear in the future in a Lower Decks episode (“An Embarrassment of Dooplers“) as well as two Star Trek Prodigy S2 episodes (“Crossroads” & “Masquerade“).
  • The fact that Picard’s body is not flesh and bone by synthetic is mentioned here – a holdover from Season 1 of “Picard”.
  • When Worf first appears, we get a musical cue going back to what I call “The Klingon Mad Music” from Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Picard Ep 22 - Disengage - 23 Feb 2023 2/2 the first appearance of Worf in the series after rescuing Raffi. One of the major plot points is the parentage of Jack Crusher. @realtoddstashwick.bsky.social continues to be awesome as Shaw as is Amanda Plummer. Good followup.
