Nanarchy

This Story: Season 7, Episode 7
Overall: Story 43b, Episode 44
Airdate: 7 Mar 1997
Written by Paul Alexander, James Hendrie, & Doug Naylor
Directed by Ed Bye

Notes

  • The first two parter story the series has had, although I can’t official verify if it’s a two parter, but I’m going with it.
  • This episode starts with a “Last week on Red Dwarf”, which leans into its two parter status more.
  • The only episode in the history of Red Dwarf with three credited writers.
  • Features the return of both the Red Dwarf ship itself, as well as Holly – only now played again by Norman Lovett.

#RedDwarfMarathon Ep 44 - Nanarchy - 7 Mar 1997 1/2 The last few mins of this are awesome, because we get the Red Dwarf ship back as well as Holly, but again played by Norman Lovett! The bulk of the episode is a continuation from last ep, where Lister is left without an arm.

#RedDwarfMarathon Ep 44 - Nanarchy - 7 Mar 1997 2/2 His arm returns with the ship/Holly when they figure out it was Kryten's nanobots who caused the ship to disappear in the first place. The nanobots recreate everything, now including the crew of the Red Dwarf, which sets up s8.
