Shore Leave

This Story: Season 1 Episode 15 (production code 1.17)
TOS Overall: Story 15, Episode 16
Trek Overall: Story 15, Episode 16
Airdate: 29 Dec 1966
Written by Theodore Sturgeon
Directed by Robert Sparr

Notes

  • This is one of the last scenes in Star Trek that shows Sulu’s being a botanist originally.
  • Barbara Baldavian appears here as the same character from the previous episode whose fiancé was killed in the plot of the episode.  I know they’re not filmed in same order they’re aired, but it makes for an odd look for her.
  • This episode has the first appearance of many of Vazquez Rocks over the decades of Star Trek.

Basically, it's the title. The crew is assigned Shore Leave on a planet, but the planet can manufacture your dreams and desires for you and they appear. Good or bad. That's pretty much the extent here. Still, it's pic.twitter.com/QzFjAGSKUI

a fun romp watching people escape from things manifested from their minds chasing them. Kirk dealing with an old academy friend was fun. Watching Sulu with a Samurai felt odd for some reason. Overall, a fun one. pic.twitter.com/UAtqoIr6ID

The first (of many) appearances of Vazquez Rocks in Star Trek.
