Notes

  • This story is also sometimes called “Inside the Spaceship” or “Beyond the Sun” depending on whose story you’re reading.
  • The only episode/story in the show’s complete history with only the Doctor and the incumbent set of companions with no other characters of any kind.
  • The Doctor claims his coat was given to him by Gilert & Sullivan.
  • The first time that the events of the prior stories are recalled.  Both “An Unearthly Child” and “The Daleks” are recalled here.
  • On 5 Jul 2026, I moved the social media posts from Twitter to BlueSky.  The original Twitter posts can still be viewed here and here.

#DoctorWhoMarathon Ep 12 (1/2 - Serial C, Story 3) - "The Edge of Destruction" - 8 Feb 1964. #DoctorWho A two parter that takes place entirely inside the Tardis. We get to see some different places in the ship. Mostly a character piece, but with them acting abormally. Hartnell in intro is funny.

#DoctorWhoMarathon Ep 13 (2/2 - Serial C, Story 3) - "The Brink of Disaster" - 15 Feb 1964. #DoctorWho The short story finishes with more misunderstanding between the crew, and a nice speech by Hartnell. The story ends with them all friends, which was the purpose of the story in the first place.
