Overall: Story 40, Episode 40
Airdate: 7 Feb 1997
Written by Doug Naylor

Notes

  • The broadcast version of this episode overran and as such there was no opening titles for two episodes in a row.  They were restored along with additional “extra scenes” in the “Xtended” version of the episode on home video releases.

#RedDwarfMarathon Ep 40 - Duct Soup - 7 Feb 1997 1/2 The bottle ep of the season. Takes place nearly all inside "service ducts" of the ship. Basically a far more elaborate version of the S3 ep "Marooned" where we spend a lot of time talking - mostly about emotions & people.

#RedDwarfMarathon Ep 40 - Duct Soup - 7 Feb 1997 2/2 Kochanski & the pipes was funny. This one tends to get a bum wrap, but if you're invested in the characters it works. A lot of it is to build up Lister & Kochanski and bring her into the crew fully. Very talky episode.
