Duel

This Story: Season 1 Episode 8 (production code 1527)
B7 Overall: Episode 8
Airdate: 20 Feb 1978 (7:15 pm UK time)
Duration: 51:13
Filming Dates: 14-17 Dec 1977, 9-10 Jan & 1 Feb 1978
Written by Terry Nation
Directed by Douglas Camfield

Notes

  • The only episode where Travis appears without Servalan also appearing.
  • This is one of only two episodes of Blake’s 7 where nobody dies.
  • The first episode where pursuit ships & Mutoids are seen, although both were mentioned in earlier episodes.
  • With the exception of the ending where Blake & Travis want to kill each other still, this episode bears a resemblance to the Star Trek: TOS episode “Arena“.
  • Sinofar is played by Isla Blair.  She was also in the Doctor Who episode “The King’s Demons” as Isabella.
  • Blair is the real life wife of Julian Glover to whom she’s been married since 1968.  Glover himself was in Doctor Who twice – The Crusade (1965) and City of Death (1979).

#B7Marathon #Blakes7 Ep 8 - "Duel" - 20 Feb 1978 1/2 Travis manages to track down Blake and corner his ship. However when doing so they're forced by some advanced aliens to fight against each other on a planet with primitive weapons. In some ways this reminds me of the Star Trek episode "Arena".

#B7Marathon #Blakes7 Ep 8 - "Duel" - 20 Feb 1978 2/2 We get to see the Mutoids & Federation pursuit ships for the first time. The actual duel scenes look stunning cleaned up for Blu-Ray. The ep is a fun one to watch if a bit predictable, not much more than what I said in the first post, honestly.
