Alter Ego

This Story: Season 3 Episode 14 (production code 155)
VOY Overall: Episode 56
Trek Overall: Story 485, Episode 512
Airdate: 15 Jan 1997
Written by Joe Menosky
Directed by Robert Picardo

“Vulcans do not hydrosail.”

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 18 / Confirmed crew deaths since pilot: 12 (crew of 142).
  • The first episode directed by Voyager cast member Robert Picardo. He’d direct one other – “One Small Step“.
  • The first time we see kal-toh in Voyager.
  • The setup for the episode “Blood Fever” occurs here with Vorik.
  • The first time the Doctor’s mobile emitter is used for a hologram besides the Doctor here for the first time.
  • Sandra Nelson plays Marayna here.  She was also the Klingon Tavana in the DS9 episode “Soldiers of the Empire“.
  • There is a reference to the TNG episodes “Elementary, Dear Data” & “Ship in a Bottle“.  While not naming him, Chakotay & Kim reference the James Moriarty hologram program, likening Marayna to him.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 56 - Alter Ego - 15 Jan 1997 2/2 Attraction". Yeah, no. However, I did like seeing more of Tim Russ' Tuvok. Harry's jealously at Tuvok was as dumb as Neelix's towards Tom. But the base story here was weak, IMO. First ep directed by Robert Picardo (The Doctor).
