This Story: Season 1 Episode 12 (production code 112)
ENT Overall: Episode 12
Trek Overall: Story 603, Episode 640
Airdate: 16 Jan 2002
Written by André Bormanis
Directed by Winrich Kolbe
Notes
- Running Decon Gel Scene Appearances: Trip (1), T’Pol (1) – none this episode.
- The first episode to air in 2002.
- The first of twelve episodes written by André Bormanis.
- The only episode of Enterprise directed by Winrich Kolbe, and the last episode he directed of any incarnation of Star Trek. In all he directed 16 episodes of TNG, 13 of DS9, 18 of VOY, and this one of Enterprise.
- This episode was originally going to become “Call to Arms”, but they couldn’t do that since there was a DS9 episode of the same name.
- We get to see Malcom’s parents and his sister in this episode. If memory serves, they’re never seen again.
- The ship that attacks Enterprise looks a lot like the alien ship that attacks them in the episode “E2“.
- The first time we see ship’s phasers on a Starship (in universe), and also obviously the first time on Enterprise.

How do you deal with someone that says and does nothing beyond attack you? Found this intriguing. There's a B plots about Malcolm

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Enterprise Episode 12 - Silent Enemy - 16 Jan 2002 2/2 Reed & launching ship's phasers. To this point it's Reed's first major character dev. I thoroughly enjoyed this - mostly because I loved the mystery of the other ship. But also because we never find out the WHY.
