Notes
- During the majority of the surgical scenes, Worf was played by Al Foster. He was the real life photo double for Michael Dorn on the show.
- A medical paper mentioned here as having been written by Dr. Crusher was previously referred to in the episode “11001001“.
- A similar reference to ritualistic Klingon suicide is brought up again in the Deep Space Nine episode “Sons of Mogh“.
- The first episode that shows a Klingon having ridges on their spines and feet (as well as their foreheads which we had known for some time).
- Cordrazine is referenced/used here – an interesting throwback to the TOS episode “City on the Edge of Forever“.

He sees this as not Klingon and tries to commit suicide with the help of Riker. In the end he's saved by some experimental surgery. There is a lot of arguments

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 116 - Ethics - 2 Mar 1992 2/3 about the ethics of this. I get the feeling Roddenberry wouldn't have been a fan of this as it has a lot of character conflict, something he didn't want. Worf agrees to surgery as he didn't want to leave his son without any parents.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 116 - Ethics - 2 Mar 1992 3/3 They brought in another Doctor to work with Crusher on saving Worf. While I liked the angle of making it a medical ep, I wonder if they ever considered Dr Pulaski as the consulting Doctor. Might have made for some cool dialogue IMO.
