All Good Things…

This Story: Season 7 Episodes 25-26 (production code 277-278)
TNG Overall: Episodes 177 & 178 (although originally broadcast as just one)
Trek Overall: Story 269, Episodes 279 & 280
Airdate: 23 May 1994
Written by Brannon Braga & Ronald D. Moore
Directed by Winrich Kolbe

Notes

  • The final episode of the series.
  • Production on Star Trek Generations actually began before this finished – the scenes on Enterprise-B were filmed first.
  • As originally broadcast, it was a single episode, but for production and distribution concerns, it is counted as two episodes.
  • This episode won the 1995 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation.
  • The novelization of the story expands on things and has scenes with Dr. Pulaski, Lwaxana Troi, & Wesley Crusher.
  • Features the return of Denise Crosby as Tasha Yar, Colm Meaney as Miles O’Brien, and John DeLancie as Q.
  • Andreas Katsulas returns as Tomalak, a character not seen since Season 4’s “Future Imperfect“.
  • The bridge of the USS Pasteur is a redress of the bridge of the mercenary ship from “Gambit“.
  • The footage of Riker without a beard was taken from the Season 1 episode “The Arsenal of Freedom“.
  • The only episode of the Worf / Troi romance plot that shows any jealously from Riker.  This is where it ends, though – after this Worf & Troi as a couple are done.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 177 - All Good Things... - 23 May 1994 3/3 I remember at the time thinking "Why didn't they make this as the first movie", as it's way better than Generations. But it's here, & there's so much fun stuff back (Yar, O'Brien, etc). It's as awesome now as it was then.
