The Assignment

This Story: Season 5 Episode 5 (production code 504)
DS9 Overall: Episode 103
Trek Overall: Story 363, Episode 384
Airdate: 28 Oct 1996
Story: David R. Long & Robert Lederman
Teleplay: David Weddle & Bradley Thompson
Director: Allan Kroeker

Notes

  • The first episode of DS9 not to have Nana Visitor’s Kira in it, as she went into early labor during production.
  • The first episode to reference the “Pah-wraiths” – basically the devils to the Bajoran gods as well as their “fire caves” where we’ll visit very late in the series.
  • The first episode of Star Trek that Allan Kroeker directed.  In total, he’d direct 13 episodes of Deep Space Nine, 13 of Voyager, and 12 of Enterprise.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 103 - The Assignment - 28 Oct 1996 1/2 Another torture O'Brien ep. This time Keiko has her body taken over by a Pah'Wraith - the Bajoran equivalent of a demon. We get a Keiko heavy story, and... this. I didn't care for this one. It's a good performance

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 103 - The Assignment - 28 Oct 1996 2/2 by Rosalind Chao, but from a plot standpoint, you know it won't stay this way, so you're just waiting for the status quo to reassert itself. I enjoyed the B plot with Rom and his Starfleet job more, honestly.
