Business as Usual

This Story: Season 5 Episode 18 (production code 516)
DS9 Overall: Episode 116
Trek Overall: Story 375, Episode 397
Airdate: 7 Apr 1997
Writer: Bradley Thompson & David Weddle
Director: Siddig El Fahil

Notes

  • There is a loose reference to the TOS episode “The Trouble with Tribbles” when quadrotriticale is brought up here.
  • This episode is directed by Bashir actor Siddig El-Fahil.  He had by this point on the series changed his name as an actor to “Alexander Siddig”, but as a director he still uses the original name he had when the series started.  His complete full name is Siddig el-Tahir el-Fadil el-Siddig Abdurrahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim el-Mahdi.  Quite the mouthful.
  • Worf’s ability to interact with the O’Brien’s son is bought up again in the episode “Time’s Orphan“.
  • Hagath was played by Stephen Berkhoff.  I know him well as General Orlov in the 007 film “Octopussy”.  He was also a “Shaker interface system” in the Doctor Who episode “The Power of Three“.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 116 - Business as Usual - 7 Apr 1997 1/2 A darned good Quark ep. His cousin Gaila finally shows up and talks him into being a weapons dealer to cover his debts (which he does). But then has major guilt over it - good internal struggle stuff by Armin.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 116 - Business as Usual - 7 Apr 1997 2/2 The B plot is about O'Brien not being able to deal with his newborn son - didn't care for this. An actor I liked from the 007 Octopussy movie is here - Stephen Berkhoff. Loved Quark feeling guilty - good depth.
