Hostage

This Story: Season 2 Episode 8 (production code 208)
B7 Overall: Episode 21
Airdate: 27 Feb 1979 (7:15PM UK time)
Duration: 51:04
Filming Dates: 15-17 Nov 1978, 11-14 Jan 1979
Written by Allan Prior
Directed by Vere Lorrimer

Notes

  • The incidental music for this was recorded at Lime Grove Studios, the famous location that Doctor Who began production at in 1963.
  • The character of Ashton was originally cast with Duncan Lamont, but he died after filming location footage. They had to recast with John Abieneri in the role, and reshoot all the other footage.
  • Abieneri also appeared in the Doctor Who serial “Death to the Daleks” as Richard Railton.
  • The character of Joban was played by Kevin Stoney.  Stoney would also appear in Series D’s “Animals” (as a different character). He’s also very well known for his three Doctor Who appearances. First was Mavic Chen in “The Daleks’ Master Plan“. The second was Tobias Vaughn in “The Invasion“. Finally he appeared as Tyrum in “Revenge of the Cybermen“.  No ems – either full or partial are anywhere to be seen in this episode.
  • The only episode where someone other than Travis said to have the rank of “Space Commander”.

#B7Marathon #Blakes7 Blake's 7 Ep 21 - "Hostage" - 27 Feb 1979 2/2 attack to attack the Federation. The meeting is mysterious, you're led to believe it's a trap - good mystery as to WHY we're doing things this episode which includes Avon guilt? A nice mystery with some background on the characters.
