Darkling

This Story: Season 3 Episode 18 (production code 161)
VOY Overall: Episode 60
Trek Overall: Story 489, Episode 516
Airdate: 19 Feb 1997
Story by Brannon Braga & Joe Menosky
Teleplay by Joe Menosky
Directed by Alexander Singer

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 18 / Confirmed crew deaths since pilot: 13 (crew of 141).
  • While it happened a few episodes back (“Warlord“), the Kes / Neelix relationship is said on screen here to be over.  There was a scene scripted for an episode in-between Warlord and this one which explained that, but it wasn’t filmed.
  • The first time people were transported while falling in the franchise.  It happened again in the 2009 JJ Abrams “Star Trek” movie.
  • T’Pau appears as a holodeck character here in an unspeaking appearance.  It is not the original from “Amok Time“, as she (Celia Lovsky) died in 1979.
  • Stephen Davies plays Nakahn here.  He was also a Bolian tactical offer in DS9’s “Emissary” as well as Arak’Taral in DS9’s “Hippocratic Oath“.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 60 - Darkling - 19 Feb 1997 1/2 Two stories here. Kes looking for a new relationship, and the Doctor patching his personality which turns him into Mr. Hyde, basically. I get this ep was a chance for Robert Picardo to do something different, but I didn't care

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 60 - Darkling - 19 Feb 1997 2/2 for "scary Doctor". I like my Doctor the way he is. This didn't work for me. Given there's only 10 more eps after this till Kes leaves, I didn't know the point of exploring that - unless they didn't know she was leaving yet.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 60 - Darkling - 19 Feb 1997 3/2 Saw this and thought this is a question for Jörg Hillebrand. The colored bottles on the bar in the back of Voyager's Darkling feel like they would have been in Quark's bar on DS9. Am I imagining that, @gaghyogi49.bsky.social?

Ghandi talking to a woman in a bikini is hilarious to me.
My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
