VOY Overall: Episode 94
Trek Overall: Story 519, Episode 549
Airdate: 20 May 1998
Story by Rick Berman, Brannon Braga, Joe Menosky
Teleplay by Brannon Braga & Joe Menosky
Directed by Winrich Kolbe

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 27 (four this episode) / Confirmed crew deaths since pilot: 19 (crew of 140 (my count says 134)).
  • The final episode for Jeri Taylor working on Voyager.
  • One of only two Voyager season finales that isn’t a cliffhanger ending (save the series finale).
  • It is said that the events of this episode were nine months after “Scorpion, Part II” and five months after “Hunters“.
  • Ray Wise plays Arturis.  He was also Liko in the TNG episode “Who Watches the Watchers“.
  • Seven refers to Arturis’ race as “Species 116”, but they are not named beyond that.
  • Jack Shearer plays Admiral Hayes in this episode and in “Life Line“. He plays a different Admiral (Strickler) in “Non Sequitur“.  He was also a Romulan (Ruwon) in DS9’s “Visionary” and a Bolian (Valdosta) in DS9’s “The Forsaken“.
  • The registry of the USS Dauntless is NX-01A – which is very similar to the USS Enterprise from “Star Trek: Enterprise” (NX-01).  It is not believed to be related.

It contains a message directing them to some new Federation tech. A more advanced Starship that would allow them to get home way faster. Turns

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 94 - Hope and Fear - 20 May 1998 2/2 out it's a trap, and they're being pursued by an alien who was po'ed at Janeway's deal w/ the Borg. Seven doesn't want to go home (the fear). Loved seeing the advanced ship, wish it was real. Kind of an odd no cliffhanger.

My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
