Pathfinder

This Story: Season 6 Episode 10 (production code 230)
VOY Overall: Episode 130
Trek Overall: Story 554, Episode 586
Airdate: 1 Dec 1999
Story by David Zabel
Teleplay by David Zabel & Kenneth Biller
Directed by Mike Vejar

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 61.  This contradicts the hard limit set in “The Cloud” of 38.
  • The last episode of Star Trek to air in the 1990’s.
  • Features the return of both Marina Sirtis (as Deanna Troi) & Dwight Schultz (as Reg Barkley)
  • A picture of Tom Paris on his father’s desk is really a promo picture of McNeill as Nick Locarno from TNG’s “First Duty“.
  • I believe this is the first time that the TNG era and the DS9 era are mentioned at the same time on an episode of Voyager.  It is also the last time (barring flashbacks) that DS9 is mentioned in the series.
  • Starfleet Headquarters is seen for the first time since the Dominion War on DS9.  They rebuild fast.  :)
  • Barkley’s holographic Voyager crew are dressed in their season one uniforms, including the return of Janeway’s “bun” hairstyle.
  • The events of of the episode “Message in a Bottle” are referenced here a few times.
  • We get to see holodeck safety protocols actually working right – a rarity.
  • Voyager had multiple jumps through space that Starfleet wouldn’t have known about (“Timeless“, “Dark Frontier“, & “The Voyager Conspiracy“).  There should not have been any way for them to know where Voyager was.
  • Pete Harkins was played by Richard McGonagle. He was also Ja’Dar in TNG’s “New Ground“.
  • Reg names his cat Neelix.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 130 - Pathfinder - 1 Dec 1999 1/2 Monumental ep. It mostly focuses on Reg Barklay who is part of the Starfleet project to find Voyager. This is all about him trying to make the tech work but seemingly having fallen back into his holodeck obsession from TNG.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 130 - Pathfinder - 1 Dec 1999 2/2 Deanna Troi is in this too. A fun as hell ep, and in the end, they finally set up regular contact between Starfleet & Voyager. The drama to get to that payoff was quite good. Real Voyager doesn't appear until like 35 mins in.

My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
