Unimatrix Zero

This Story: Season 6 Episode 26 (production code 246)
VOY Overall: Episode 146
Trek Overall: Story 570a, Episode 602
Airdate: 24 May 2000
Story by Mike Sussman
Teleplay by Brannon Braga & Joe Menosky
Directed by Allan Kroeker

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 66.  This contradicts the hard limit set in “The Cloud” of 38.
  • The last episode of Season 6.
  • The official title of this episode is “Unimatrix Zero”, not “Unimatrix Zero, Part I”.
  • An early working title for this episode was “Connections”.
  • The Delta Flyer is destroyed by the Borg in this episode.  It’s replaced in the episode “Imperfection” by a new version that’s identical to the old.
  • There is a scene that shows a bunch of decapitated Borg heads.  One of them is the same physical prop of Brent Spiner’s head from “Time’s Arrow” as well as “Datalore“.
  • Tom Paris is re-promoted to Lt Junior Grade after having been demoted to Ensign in the episode “Thirty Days“.
  • This episode ends with an echo to “The Best of Both Worlds Part I” where the captain of the ship is assimilated by the Borg.
  • Mark Deakins plays both Axum and “Five of Twelve” in this episode.  It was also the Hirogen Turanj in “The Killing Game” and Tourney in Star Trek: Insurrection.
  • The only time I’m aware of where Janeway fights with a Klingon Bat’leth.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 146 - Unimatrix Zero - 24 May 2000 2/2 also includes Seven who develops feelings/a relationship for another drone in this place. Janeway wants to use it to introduce something that will kill the Borg. During this, Janeway gets assimilated. Good cliffhanger.

Brent Spiner’s “head prop” reused here.
My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
