Court Martial

This Story: Season 1 Episode 20 (production code 1.15)
TOS Overall: Story 20, Episode 21
Trek Overall: Story 20, Episode 21
Airdate: 2 Feb 1967
Written by Don M. Mankiewicz & Steven W. Carabastos
Directed by Marc Daniels

Notes

  • Scotty & Sulu do not appear in this episode.
  • This is the third and final time Uhura takes over the navigation console.
  • This is the first episode where we hear the names Starfleet and Starfleet Command.
  • The back of the bar contained recycled pieces from the interior of Balok’s ship from The Corbomite Maneuver.
  • Contains one of (IMO) the more famous bloopers with the prosecutor at the end saying “… would kiss the star of a ship captain”.

A bottle ep that shows Kirk on trial for negligence for the death of a crewman. I loved theis story because it showed Kirk in bad light. Course you knew it would work out, but I enjoyed the drama just the same. pic.twitter.com/BnRqKryiuG

I did find the moving to the trial to the Enterprise to change the tone - once they did that, it didn't feel like Kirk was in trouble anymore, and I thought that was unrealistic. Still, I enjoyed this ep a lot. pic.twitter.com/otPmCV975j

A rarity – Kirk in a Jefferies tube.
…. kiss the star of a ship’s captain
