Tomorrow is Yesterday

This Story: Season 1 Episode 19 (production code 1.21)
TOS Overall: Story 19, Episode 20
Trek Overall: Story 19, Episode 20
Airdate: 26 Jan 1967
Written by D. C. Fontana
Directed by Michael O’Herlihy

Notes

  • The first episode of Star Trek to be fully written by a woman (DC Fontana).
  • The first time that the Enterprise visits Earth during it’s 5 year mission.
  • The slingshot effect to send the ship in time travel was used many times in future Star Trek. It was also used in the episode “Assignment: Earth“, the movie “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home“, and it was referenced in modern Trek too (although I forget the exact episodes as the moment).

The Enterprise ends up at Earth in the 1960's & is discovered. They have to beam down to the planet and fix everything, returning home as well. This was a fun ep, the time travel aspect spoke to me. pic.twitter.com/rMfaEOZ8N2

While not exactly a comedy, there's comedic elements which I enjoyed. The policeman they pick up is solely for comedy, the pilot not at all. Very enjoyable ep all around. I'm a sucker for time travel. pic.twitter.com/37l31nMzlI
