Galaxy’s Child

This Story: Season 4 Episode 16 (production code 190)
TNG Overall: Episode 90
Trek Overall: Story 189, Episode 192
Airdate: 11 Mar 1991
Teleplay by Maurice Hurley and Jeri Taylor (uncredited)
Story by Thomas Kartozian
Directed by Winrich Kolbe

Notes

  • A sequel to the episode “Booby Trap” that features the return of the Leah Brahms character, only this time in real life, not a projection.
  • I’m pretty convinced a moment in the opening titles of the show Star Trek: Lower Decks is meant to parody this episode. There’s a picture of that below.
  • The events of this episode are recalled by Geordi to Montgomery Scott in the episode “Relics“.
  • The first appearance of the redesigned TNG era Jefferies tubes.  They had appeared in TNG before (The Hunted), but looked very different.  This designed look was used in other starship designs in future Trek shows too.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 90 - Galaxy's Child - 11 Mar 1991 1/2 This one has two plots. One about the Ent and the child of a creature the ship accidentally kills, & the appearance of Leah Brahms and Geordi's weird fascination with her. This time not as hologram, but in person. I very much

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 90 - Galaxy's Child - 11 Mar 1991 2/2 liked the part with Dr Brahms, but the bit with the "child" not so much (which is a minority opinion from what I can tell). Some amusing dialogue in this. I've now passed halfway point in series as this is ep 90 / 178.

Love that her earring matches the insignia on her shirt.

I just like the visual of this shot and the way all the people are in it – in particular the empty seats on either side of Picard.
The moment from Star Trek: Lower Decks’ title sequence I’m convinced parodies this episode.
