Firewheel Town Center Mall in Garland
UPDATE Sep 29 2005: I just found out the other day that the mall is opening on Friday October 7th. As that is 8 days from the time I”m writing this, all the folks visiting this site looking to get hired are probably out of luck at this point, I’d imagine. I’m still surprised we haven’t seen a comprehensive list of stores published anywhere. Once the store opens, I’ll probably go to the mall and get a directory and post the actual list of stores here.
I’m also finding it interesting how high up on Google’s search this blog entry is. Thanks to all who have visited.
UPDATE Aug 1 2005: I have a significantly larger list of stores that will be in the mall now. See the bottom of the entry for my update….
Original Blog Entry on Mall:
I live in Garland, Texas, and there’s one thing this city has lacked is a big mall of it’s own. We’ve had to go to Plano, or to Dallas, or to Mesquite to hit a shopping mall. Garland hasn’t had one. But that’s changing now, with the opening of our own “Firewheel Town Center” mall in October of 2005. There doesn’t appear to be any official website for the mall (yet).
I’ve been trying to find out a list of what’s going in there. The biggest chunk of the information I can find is from the website of Michael Holden, who is a City Council Rep in Garland. On his page for the mall, he lists these stores as being there:
In the Mall:
Dillard’s
Foley’s
AMC Theater (16 screens)
Barnes and Noble
Linen’s & Things
Circuit City
Old Navy
The Gap
In the Surrounding Area:
Best Buy
Bed, Bath & Beyond
Lowe’s (Not new, This has been here for years)
Home Depot (Not new, This has been here for years)
Restaurants In the Mall:
Macaroni Grill
Bone Daddy’s
TGI Friday’s
Rockfish
On the Border
P.F. Changs (searching for a site for Pei Wei their fast/casual concept)
Big Bowl (Brinker Restaurant)
Restaurants In the Surrounding Area:
Chili’s (Not new, has been here for years)
McDonalds (Not new, This has been here for years)

Here’s some stuff I’ve been able to find out on my own.
1) Tonight I found that there’s a job application online for a company called “Limited Brands”. They are the parent company of these (so any of them could be in the mall): Victoria’s Secret, Express, Bath & Body Works, The Limited, White Barn Candle, Henri Bendel.
2) I also saw where Build a Bear will be in there. Link.
3) Company called Coldwater Creek should be here. I found this link which lists a job for a store manager.
4) This link shows that Pier 1, Fox & Hound, Snuffer’s are going to be here. Snuffer’s is a restuarant, not sure what Fox & Hound is, I think it’s another restaurant.
There’s probably more, but I’m writing this at 3:30AM, and I’m pretty tired. If you find any more, or find an official website and/or list, please let me know.
The sad thing is that since I live in South Garland, it will still be significantly closer for me to go to Mesquite. It’s 5 minutes away. The Firewheel mall in North Garland is about a 20 minute drive, depending on how many traffic lights I hit. We’ll probably visit it, but the only unique store there that would cause us to go there is Build A Bear. Everything else listed so far is common stuff that you can get anywhere.
UPDATE AUG 1: I received the monthly newsletter the city of Garland publishes today, and they had a very large list of stores in the mall. The article says this isn’t the complete list, but here goes:
Barnes & Noble
Circit City
Linens N Things
Firewheel Day Spa & Salon
Zales Jewelers
Journeys
Build a Bear Workshop
Riceboxx Asian Cafe
Nine West
Sam’s Fine Jewelry
Norman Cosmetics
Nestle Tollhosue Cafe
Ann Taylor Loft
Lenscrafters
COldwater Creek
Select Comfort
Yankee Candle Shop
Victoria’s Secret
Express
James Avery Craftsman
Bath & Body Works
Eyemasters
Paterie & Co
Footlocker
Bombay Co
Kay Jewelers
Claire’s
Pier One
Eddie Bauer
Brookstone
American Eagle Outfitters
Lane Bryant
Friday’s
Trade Secret
Christopher & Banks
General Nutrition Center
DSW Shoe Warehouse
Cosina Caliente
Beauty Nails
Aldo
Stride Rite Shoes
Coldstone Creamery
Hat World
Bath Junkie
Charlotte Russe
Brighton Collectilbes
Sunglass Design
Street Corner News
Candy World
Nasr Jewelers
Club Libby Lu
Celebrity Kids
Talbot’s
Fossil
Regis
Pac Sun
Most of these I have no idea what they’re supposed to be. I still stand by my original statemnt that since I live about 5 minutes from Town East Mall, there’s nothing unique that would make me want to drive out there except Build A Bear. That’s unfortunate, as I do live in Garland, but the Mesquite mall is so much more convenient for me.
What else is interesting is that this big list doesn’t list some of the stores that I had in my smaller update from before.

I’m trying to find out, how to apply for jobs at the new fire wheel town center?
Thanks
Chandra

Hello Joe, Yes Build A Bear will be at Firewheel and Chandra we will start the hireing process in mid August, please apply at Build A Bear.com. Joe I love your Rangers Fan site I visit the site weekly come by and say hello when we open on October the 7th.
there will also be a hot topic store at the firewheel center. they have posted a job listing on their website.
Hi, Joe –
I live in Rowlett, so glad you’ve posted this. We’ve been wondering what’s going in. We live in North Rowlett (about 1 mile off of 190 in Waterview) so this mall is definetly going to change things for us!
Wanted to tell you that Fox & Hound is a sports bar, but a sports bar with really great food, and a “swanky” atmosphere (not your regular smoke-filled sports bar). Also, Coldwater Creek is a high end catalog store. The ONLY other Coldwater store I know of is located at Stonebriar. So, it sounds like to me that they’re trying to attract some high end stores. We’re thrilled about Pei Wei since the only other one is in Richardson and hard to get to. Besides that, it’s the PF Chang’s menu for half the price. We are disappointed about Pier 1 — waste of real estate these days, it’s not the store it used to be and there’s one in Rockwall and in Plano (and the one in Mesquite just closed, so it’s odd they’re opening one so close to Mesquite).
Snuffer’s in Rockwall is really hopping, though, so another one is probably a good move. The one in Rockwall opened about 4/5 months ago and we still haven’t been able to get in! Great burgers, though.
Thanks for all the info.!

p.s.: Club LIbby Lu’s site shows they’re opening a store at Firewheel Oct. 2005. It’s a girls’ fashion accessory store that does “makeovers” for girls and pre-teens. The best part being, they offer birthday packages — and since Garland is so industrial heavy, there’s next to nowhere to have a kids party. This one will be popular with the Garland and Lake Cities girls!
Also listed on the Simon site as coming to Firewheel are DSW Shoes and Sports Authority (formerly Oshmans)
I wanted to let you know there is als a place called Potbelly coming in. It is a deli type of place. They just opened one in Richardson off 75 and Campbell road. There are a few others in Dallas as well. Just FYI in the shopping center accross from the mall near Hobby Lobby is going to be a Mardels and I think a Big Lots.
GNC will have a store here also. You can apply online at gnc.com or in person at the Richardson square mall location.
Hey I’m 18 and I was wondering if there was going to be a Hollister store in this mall. If there isent that would really suck because thats were a lot of teenagers buy thier clothes and we always have to go far to go to a Hollister. Please put one in there, I would probably try to work there too.
I think the new mall is cool but why is everything outside? What if it rains, or when its really hot or cold. That is really going to be a bummber. Well atleast we don’t have to go as far to go to the mall
just to let you know…the simon website job app. is for the actual Simon Property Co. The jobs are for like builders and stuff like that. I do hope that they create a link for the stores though. It would be nice and a lot easier.
How old do you have to be to work at the AMC theatre and when can i apply?
The idea of having an outdoor mall (aka town center) is to kill the horror that is suburban malls and make it more pedestrian-focused. Future plans for the area include mix-use structures that include retail, business, and living quarters. Think Mockingbird Station. Hopefully it will eventually bring the DART line to the area as some have speculated.
A mall in the Land of Gar – woohoo!!! FYI, the City of Garland website has an update posted for August now. Looks you’ll need to update your list of stores. Here’s the link:

Hey, I was looking through the list of stores and I didn’t see Hollister, and I was very dissapointed. Everyone of my friends wears Hollister and we all spend TONS of money in that strore to try to look good for school. Hollister will definatley be a store that will bring lots of attraction to the mall. Please don’t make this mall ghetto, so we have to drive all the way out to West Plano, MEsquite or Dallas, I promise this is whatmost of my closet is full of. Take a poll or somthing, seriously teenagers want this!!!!

The Lane Bryant store that will be opening will be actually two shops. One side will be clothing and the other side will be lingerie entitled Cacique. For any plus size women shoppers the new store plans on being a cutting edge (I personally know the manager who will be running the Cacique store) and the answer to all of us who cannot by anything beyond perfume at Victoria Secret.

Joe,
I work for IPC International Corp. as a Security Director and will be the Director for Firewheel Town Center.
We are currently accepting applications for full and part-time security officers. To apply however, applicants will need to go to Richardson Square Mall and contact Ronald Castro. An add should come out in the newspaper this week.
PLEEEAASSEE PLEEEEAAASSSE DONT PUT A HOLLISTER IN THE MALL! PUT AN A’GACI TOO IN THE MALL BECAUSE ITS CHEAPER AND HAS MUCH BETTER CLOTHES…..YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY 25 DOLLARS FOR ONE FREAKING T- SHIRT!!!
PLEASE!!!!!!! O PLEASE DO NOT PUT A HOLLISTER IN THE MALL!! Agaci too is sooo much better and cheeper! Plus every won’t have the same thing written on a shirt! And i’m also looking for a job so if you do put a agaci too in there i would want to work there.
I am very excited over the opening of the Firewheel Town Center. I live just a block away and I have been waiting for 11 years. It’s finally going to happen! I wish they put up stores like: Ross and Marshalls. Also, a Japanese restaurant would be a good addition.
This is krunk that they are putting this in put it needs covered walk ways, more stores like you would find in collin creek mall or town east…. other than that i have really no complaints…..jst wishing that my girlfriend will get a job there …. she wants to work at that Agaci store….hopefully there will be one in the end!!!!!!

Im still not sure about how to contact people about getting a job at the new FireWheel mall. I tried some of the links but they were expired. If anyone knows how to get a job at this mall i would appreciate it if someone would email me with anything they know.
Thanks
Candice
Where is the actual location of Firewheel Town Center? What Highway is it located near?
For a job at Dillard’s, please visit the current location at Richardson Square Mall
Is there going to be a hollister in the mall? B/c thats where i get pretty much ALL of my clothes!
PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS!
YES there will be a freakin hollister in the mall …AS STATED 4 YES 4 POSTES UP…. U REALLY SHOULD LOOK AT THE PREVIOUS BLOGS THAT OTHER SMART PEOPLE HAVE POSTED…..THANK YOU!
I cannot for the life of me figure out the road configuration, nor can I find a map showing just exactly how the frontage road and Bush extension will look in front of Firewheel. Have you seen such a site map?
I love the stores that will be there like American Eagle, Charlotte Russe, Journey’s and Pac Sun, but I would really like to see a Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch because you have to drive so far to get to either of those. Also, an Agaci too, that way I can stay in one place to check out all my favorite stores. :-)
Foleys is currently accepting applications and interviewing for all positions. Intrested applicants can apply at either the Texas Worksource Center in Richardson or Garland. On September 12th intrested applicants can apply directly at the Foleys store in Firewheel.

Wondering why they’re bothering to call it a Foley’s since they’re all going to change the name to Macy’s very soon as a result of Federated buying Macy’s.
Hi sorry to bug you about this but i didn’t see if there was going to be a abercrombie/abercrombie and fitch in the mall. So if you could please email me back about it. THANKS! hannah
