Mudd’s Passion

This Story: Season 1 Episode 10 (production code 1.8)
TAS Overall: Episode 10
Trek Overall: Story 89, Episode 90
Airdate: 10 Nov 1973
Written by Stephen Kandel
Directed by Hal Sutherland

Notes

  • This was a sequel to the original series episodes “Mudd’s Women” & “I, Mudd“.
  • Features the return of Roger C. Carmel as Harry Mudd.
  • Has what I think to be the only time we see McCoy sitting alone at a bridge station working.

Third & final TOS era Harry Mudd story. This time he's peddling a "super love potion" which makes members of the crew fall in love with each other. It's probably the weakest of the Mudd stories, making pic.twitter.com/p3dV0FA4S6

some characters (mostly Spock) act way outside their usual definition. Was nice to hear Roger Carmel return to the role of Mudd. The base story didn't do a ton for me - a "love potion" seems like fan stuff. pic.twitter.com/uxpTNmWaro

Chapel firing a phaser is a rarity.
A production error – Kirk is shown to be wearing a red shirt.
