TNG Overall: Episode 25
Trek Overall: Story 125, Episode 127
Airdate: 9 May 1988
Written by Robert Sabaroff & Tracy Tormé

Notes

  • Denise Crosby is still credited in the opening titles, despite having left the show’s cast at this point.
  • Ward Costello and Robert Schenkkan reprise their roles from the episode “Coming of Age“.
  • The chair that Remmick was in at the end of the episode is the same one that was used by Admiral Jameson in the episode “Too Short a Season“.
  • The first appearance of a Bolian in the series.
  • A chart on the wall behind Remmick’s chair was reused in many more TNG episodes and later appeared in the pilot episode of the Doctor Who spin-off series The Sarah Jane Adventures in the Sarah’s attic.
  • The doors in the set of the “dining area” in Starfleet HQ were re-used later as the doors to Ten Forward once Guinan joined the crew.

the problem in the end, exposing the alien in a sequence fairly graphic for Trek at the time. It was intended to set up the Borg in s2, but when the Borg were redesigned, the cliffhanger became unresolved. pic.twitter.com/jQ2stMkiL2
