Notes

  • Back in the 80’s and 90’s, I used to run a BBS on Apple // hardware called “The Arsenal of Freedom”. When I started using PC’s, I had a BBS there too called “The Arsenal of Freedom II”.  They no longer exist in 2024.  My old Fidonet node was 1:273/928 if anyone remembers that. :)
  • Wesley does not appear in this episode.
  • This has the third of the season’s rotating chief engineers – this time “Logan”.
  • This is the second and last time we see Geordi in command of the Enterprise in this series.  The only other time it happens is in the series finale of Star Trek: Picard in 2023, “The Last Generation“.
  • The last time we see the ship separating until Part 2 of “The Best of Both Worlds” in Season 4.  The footage used here is recycled from “Encounter at Farpoint“.

The crew has to survive a weapons system on a dead planet which is really there to sell them weapons, but that's not known at first. The weapon threat is always there, but we also get into Picard pic.twitter.com/rLakDvc97j

and Crusher stuff, Geordi in command of the ship, and we even get a saucer separation. I loved this ep, I even named my old 80s/90's BBS after this! Vincent Chavelli's salesman character is fun. pic.twitter.com/rVDPc18gsL
