Suddenly Human

This Story: Season 4 Episode 4 (production code 176)
TNG Overall: Episode 78
Trek Overall: Story 177, Episode 180
Airdate: 15 Oct 1990
Story by Ralph Phillips
Teleplay by John Whelpley & Jeri Taylor
Directed by Gabrielle Beaumont

Notes

  • The first episode with a writing credit for Jeri Taylor.  She would write several times in the future, and also go on to co-create Star Trek Voyager.
  • Geordi is barely in this, and what is seen is recycled footage.  LeVar had surgery in real life and couldn’t film at this point.
  • The rifles worn by the Talarian militia were later used as Romulan disruptors.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 78 - Suddenly Human - 15 Oct 1990 1/2 The third ep in a row about family issues, although this one isn't about any of our crew. The story is about someone who was human raised in an alien environment - is he human anymore? That's the main crux here. A few moments

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 78 - Suddenly Human - 15 Oct 1990 2/2 are uncomfortable (some child abuse stuff is raised). Didn't really care for this episode. First one in awhile I wanted to stop watching halfway through. There was some blowback at the time about the resolution of this ep.
