The Begotten

This Story: Season 5 Episode 12 (production code 510)
DS9 Overall: Episode 110
Trek Overall: Story 370, Episode 391
Airdate: 27 Jan 1997
Writer: René Echevarria
Director: Jesús Salvador Treviño

Notes

  • Features the return of James Sloyan as Dr. Mora Pol for the second time after appearing previously in “The Alternate“.   It is also his final appearance in the series.
  • The shot where the baby changeling attempts to mimic Odo’s face was not CGI. It was an assistant director with a stocking on his head covered with some sort of gel.
  • The events of the TNG episode “Disaster” are briefly referenced here.
  • There are only two episodes after this one with Keiko.  One is Season 6’s “Time’s Orphan“, and briefly in the series finale.
  • Jadzia Dax does not appear in this episode – the first one where she does not.
