Notes
- Running fired torpedo count: 71 (four this episode). This contradicts the hard limit set in “The Cloud” of 38.
- As originally aired, this was just a single double length episode. However, on all subsequent airings, it aired as a two parter. For my marathon I’m watching it as one, but I’m counting it as two.
- The last episode to air in the year 2000.
- This is a sequel to the episode “The Killing Game“.
- This is the last time the Hirogen appear in Voyager.
- The only time the Breen and the Jem’Hadar appear in Voyager (albeit as holograms).
- The holographic generator prop is the same prop that was an AI prop from the episode “Think Tank“.
- The console used to to control said holographic generator is itself a reused prop. This time the console from one of the Captain Proton episodes.
- The events of this episode are recalled in “Author, Author“.
- Kejal was played by Cindy Katz. She was also Yteppa in the DS9 episode “Second Skin“.
- Weiss was played by Spencer Garrett. He was also Simon Tarses in the TNG episode “The Drumhead“.
- The “New Alpha Hirogen” (otherwise unnamed) was placed by Paul Eckstein. He was also a “Young Hirogen” in the episode “The Killing Game”. It’s unclear if they’re supposed to be the same one. Other roles he’s had: Limara’Son in DS9’s “Rocks and Shoals“, Supervisor Yost in “Gravity“, an unnamed Jem’Hadar in DS9’s “The Dogs of War“, and will return in Voyager’s “Prophecy” as a Klingon named Moran.
- Vaughn Armstrong is in this episode. He’s modern Trek royalty with a metric ton of roles. Will list them all here: Was the Klingon Capt Korris in TNG’s “Heart of Glory” & “Shades of Gray“, the Cardassian Gul Danar in DS9’s “Past Prologue“, the Romulan Telek R’Mor in Voyager’s “Eye of the Needle“, the Cardassian Seskal in DS9’s “When it Rains….” & “The Dogs of War“, Two of Nine & Lansor in Voyager’s “Survival Instinct“, a Vidiian Captain in “Fury“, an Alpha Hirogen in “Flesh and Blood“, the Klingon Korath in the Voyager finale, “Endgame“. He also did a lot on Enterprise. He was Admiral Forrest in 14 different episodes of that show. He was also a Klingon Captain in “Sleeping Dogs“, a Kreetassan Captain in “Vox Sola” & “A Night in Sickbay“, plus the mirror version of Forrest in “In a Mirror Darkly“.

We get to see what the Hirogen did with the holodeck technology they were left with. This is basically Hirogen v Hirogen w/Voyager in middle after one of the groups steals

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Eps 155/156 - Flesh and Blood - 29 Nov 2000 2/2 the Doctor. Pt II is more about hologram rights as the Doctor betrays Voyager during a battle and aligns himself behind a David Koresh type. Voyager very secondary in Pt II. Enjoyable, but not a top shelf episode.
