This Story: Season 7 Episode 20 (production code 266)
VOY Overall: Episode 166
Trek Overall: Story 587, Episode 622
Airdate: 18 Apr 2001
Story by Brannon Braga
Teleplay by Phyllis Strong & Mike Sussman
Directed by David Livingston

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 77. This contradicts the hard limit set in “The Cloud” of 38.
  • The last episode of the series to be directed by David Livingston.  In total, he directed 2 episodes of TNG, 17 of DS9, 28 of Voyager, and will direct 15 on Enterprise.
  • The only time that Picard’s “Dixon Hill” holodeck character is mentioned on Voyager.
  • It’s also the only time the occupation of Bajor by the Cardassians is mentioned on Voyager (directly).
  • The events of this episode appear to contract the ultimate resolution of the episode “Tuvix“.
  • The epilogue of this episode takes place after the events of the series finale.
  • Ardon Broht was played by Barry Gordon.  He also played the Ferengi Nava in the DS9 episode “The Nagus“.
  • Juan Garcia played John Torres (B’Elanna’s father) for the second and final time here. His other appearance was in “Lineage“.
  • Robert Ito played Harry Kim’s father John.   He was also Chang in the TNG episode “Coming of Age“.
  • Irene Tsu plays Harry’s mother Mary.  She previously played the role in the episode “Favorite Son“.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Episode 166 - Author, Author - 18 Apr 2001 1/2 The Doctor writes a holonovel with unflattering copies of the crew that pisses everyone off. Some of the alternates are amusing, but the overall plot line felt off to me. Normally I like "alternate view" stories,

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Episode 166 - Author, Author - 18 Apr 2001 2/2 but this one felt different. It gets published in the Alpha quadrant without his permission, setting off a B plot about hologram rights. Liked seeing folks from Earth, but the main story I didn't care for, oddly.

My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
