Windows XP & Default Program Settings

First off, please don’t answer with “Have her not use Outlook Express”. That’s not an option.

My question is this. At home I use Windows XP Home, and for quite awhile both my wife and I used Outlook Express. Tonight, I switched over to using Pegasus Mail for my home mail. I’m already using it for work, and decided to use it at home, too. So, having made this choice, I changed the setting for default mail client on my account to Pegasus. All was fine, program came up when I hit “Read Email”, and the mailto links worked right.

Decided to check out my wife’s side, and Pegasus Mail was set for the default client there, too. Well, I didn’t want that, as she’s pretty used to the way she was doing things, so she’s sticking with Outlook Express. So I set her account to use OE as the default mail client, which changed it on my side, too!

My question is this. How can I get each of our accounts to have seperate default mail clients? I thought this kind of stuff was supposed to be separate for each account on the system, and that “Default mail client” is not a ‘global variable’ on the computer.

Any ideas (short of what I said don’t tell me in the first part of this message)?

have you tried having two separate *users* for you and your wife?
try this and see if the defaults are the same…shouldn’t be.
    good luck
