Dark Page

This Story: Season 7 Episode 7 (production code 259)
TNG Overall: Episode 159
Trek Overall: Story 251, Episode 261
Airdate: 1 Nov 1993
Written by Hilary J. Bader (and René Echevarria – uncredited)
Directed by Les Landau

Notes

  • The final episode for Lwaxana Troi on Star Trek: TNG.
  • The only episode of TNG where Lwaxana appears, but Mr. Homn does not.  In real life Carel Struycken was unavailable at the time.  Homn is mentioned, however.
  • Kirsten Dunst (at age 11) guest starred in this episode.
  • The first time we ever saw Deanna’s father, who Deanna used to name the child she had in “The Child” from Season 2.
  • The scene with Troi “jumping into space” was performed by Marina Sirtis herself.
  • Data’s dream program from the episode before (Phantasms) is referenced.
  • One of three episodes with no scenes on the bridge.  The other two are “Family” and “Liaisons“.
  • The events of this episode are mentioned in the Deep Space Nine episode “The Muse“.
  • In Star Trek: Picard, Riker & Troi have two kids.  The daughter was named Kestra after Deanna’s sister who is shown to have died in this episode.
  • The wolf in the dream sequence was real, and nobody wanted to be on set with it, despite it being trained and with a handler.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 159 - Dark Page - 1 Nov 1993 1/2 Probably the best Lwaxana Troi ep - because it's not her being annoying af. This is an examination of her life's past. It shows that Deanna had a sister that didn't live, and getting Lwaxana to admit that opened up an acting venue

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 159 - Dark Page - 1 Nov 1993 2/2 for Majel - as she doesn't get to do that often. Actual acting. We get to see Deanna's father for the only time. Also has an 11yr old Kirsten Dunst. The ending was MUCH harder to watch after my wife and I lost a child. Good ep tho.
