No Win Scenario

This Story: Season 3 Episode 4 (production code 304)
PIC Overall: Episode 24
Trek Overall: TBD
Airdate: 9 Mar 2023
Written by Terry Matalas & Sean Tretta
Directed by Jonathan Frakes

Notes

  • Raffaela does not appear in this episode.  Neither does Worf.
  • We see a picture of the late Rene Auberjonois as Odo in this episode.
  • Seven’s quarters appear to have a Kal-Toh game in it.
  • The planet Argelius IV is mentioned.  This is another planet in the same system that was visited by Kirk’s Enterprise in “Wolf in the Fold” (Argelius II).
  • This episode mirrors some parts of the plot of “Encounter at Farpoint” – in fact, events of that episode are mentioned in this one.
  • When a Changeling bucket is discovered inside a light fixture, it was an intentional nod to finding a phaser in much the same way in “The Conscience of the King“.
  • The events of the episode “Darmok” are recalled here.
  • The Hirogen (from Star Trek Voyager) are also mentioned here.
  • The first appearance of the red door, which becomes a major plot point in the last two episodes.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Picard Ep 24 - No Win Scenario - 9 Mar 2023 1/2 As killer as the Riker/Picard scene last ep was, the one with Shaw telling the story about how he was a Wolf 359 survivor in this ep is even better. Stashwick f'in NAILS this. The Titan eventually does get out of the trap

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Picard Ep 24 - No Win Scenario - 9 Mar 2023 2/2 they were in in a way that mirrors the Farpoint ep. Good use of flashback scenes. Also some good "talking" scenes. Shaw starts to be less of a jerk in this one as he helps in tracking changelings (which includes Vadic).
