Notes

  • The Tardis does not appear in this story at all.  One of only 12 episodes (as of this date) where this happened.
  • Features the return of Jonah Hauer-King as Conrad Clark from “Lucky Day“.
  • Features the return of Susan Triad, last seen in the prior series episode “Empire of Death“.
  • Features a cameo by Jonathan Groff as Rogue from the prior series episode of the same title.  The sequence here was filmed during that episode.
  • The Rani mentions an adventure at the Siege of Persephone, but this is an unseen event.
  • The Rani does mention past adventures of the TV show including “The Mark of the Rani“, “Time & The Rani“, as well as “Dimensions in Time” (her three prior televised stories).
  • The classic series character of “Omega” is mentioned, but not seen.  Omega was last seen in the 1983 story “Arc of Infinity“.
  • Omega’s overheard dialogue was taken from the Big Finish story “Intervention Earth” – the first time Big Finish audio has appeared in the main programme.
  • The books that Conrad Clark reads are all based on existing Doctor Who stories, but with slightly modified titles.  They are”Doctor Who & the Last Time War”, “Doctor Who and the English Rose, Doctor Who and the Big Bad Wolf, Doctor Who and the Runaway Bride, Doctor Who and the Pandorica, Doctor Who and the Timeless Children and Doctor Who and the Deadly Wish.  The books are written by I.M. Foreman, the same name of the owner of the junkyard in the original 1963 story “An Unearthly Child“.
  • Features another past Doctor clip montage.  The stories they are taken from are “The Massacre“, “The Three Doctors“, “Day of the Daleks“, “The Invasion of Time“, “The Five Doctors“, “Vengeance on Varos“, “The Curse of Fenric“, “The Power of the Doctor“, “Rose“, “Forest of the Dead“, “The Wedding of River Song“, “Before the Flood“, “The Ghost Monument“, and “Fugitive of the Judoon“.
  • ADMIN NOTE: This post was actually made on 19 Sep 2025.  It was back dated to appear on the date the episode aired.

#DoctorWhoMarathon Ep 897 - Wish World (Story 319) - 24 May 2025 1/2 The Doctor & all his friends find themselves in a false 1950's themed reality. This is pushed by Conrad Clark (from Lucky Day) under control of The Rani who has gained the ability to "wish" things into existence. It also teases

#DoctorWhoMarathon Ep 897 - Wish World (Story 319) - 24 May 2025 2/2 the return of Omega. The Rani talks about past events a bit. Overall I LOVED Archie Panjabi's portrayal - more than Anita Dobson, actually. Quite liked the way disabled people are treated here - mirrors reality. Good cliffhanger.
