Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 11 (7 this episode) / Confirmed crew deaths since pilot: 5 (crew of 148)
  • The Shawn Piller who pitched the story is the real life son of Voyager producer Michael Piller.
  • The first of three appearances in Voyager by John DeLancie as “Q”.
  • DeLancie considers this episode and the TNG episode “Tapestry” as two of the best Q episodes.
  • The other Q (or Quinn) was played by Gerrit Graham. He also played the lead hunter in the DS9 episode “Captive Pursuit“.
  • Jonathan Frakes who directed several episodes of Voyager makes his only on screen appearance as Riker in this episode.
  • The character of Maury Ginsberg in this episode was played by an actor also named Maury Ginsberg. :)
  • Peter Dennis plays Sir Isaac Newton here.  He also played Admiral Hendricks in the Voyager episode “Friendship One“.
  • The comet effect at the start of the episode was a re-use from the TNG episode “Masks“.
  • A scene shot Kim & Paris in Kim’s quarters was deleted for time. It ended up becoming the opening scene of the Voyager episode “The Thaw“.
  • The first reference to the Borg in Voyager is made here, but they are not seen.  During this, the events of the TNG episode “Q Who” are recalled.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 34 - Death Wish - 19 Feb 1996 2/2 Q2 gets his wish. We get some new insight into the Q Continuum. During the trial we get some fun cameos, one of which is Will Riker who Q brings there as a witness. A GREAT ep. Loved it was something new for "our" Q to do.
